Acoustic partial discharge measurement during the operation of high-voltage lines or other equipment is now also possible with NEO Messtechnik. For this purpose, we have both an acoustic partial discharge camera and a UV light-based camera in our equipment.

Did you know that partial discharges on surfaces, for example due to contamination, can also be detected optically or acoustically in dry-type transformers and switchgear?

To complement our partial discharge (PD) measurements, we are always testing new measurement methods, including various acoustic PD cameras. In our experience, these cameras are well-suited for gaining an overview of the equipment’s condition (during operation) before conducting an actual PD measurement.

In addition, we see added value in using the cameras during our measurements, as they allow us to easily locate detected partial discharges and rule out influences from the measurement setup. This can indeed represent a significant benefit for the end customer.
